so why blog?

via
As I sat down last night to write a post for today, I came up with nothing. There was literally nothing in this brain to write about. I mean after 120 posts, I thought this creative mind could last a little longer. You win some, you lose some. Losing was not going to get me this time. I could write about how I have the day off today, or this holiday where the colors of the flag are celebrated. Both I felt had no substance, no importance and would have just been fluff, and not even the marshmallow kind.

So then I dug around in my old saved inspiration prints and found this one from Julia Child. It made me stop and think, what am I passionate about? There are many things in life that I am passionate about. I am passionate about my jobs, school, my relationship with Jared, but the thing I keep coming back to is blogging.

As a new blogger, it seems almost superficial to be so passionate about something. In the end, it's a hobby. Something I started to do in my spare time. But slowly, it has truly captured my heart. It shows in the way I spend my time on this computer, researching clothes, DIYs, and inspiration to share. It shows in the way I dress myself and the way each outfit is a chance to show people that you CAN wear that together. It shows in the way I share my life, with people I don't even know.

The most amazing part to be passionate about is the people. This blog began by itself, with no followers or sponsors to show for it. And that was okay. It was mine. Now, 6 months later, it is still mine. But something of mine that I share with 161 of you. You that make my laugh and give me confirmation that I am tugging at your heart and inspiring you. It honestly is the strangest thing that people can really be interested and invested in what others have to say. And sure, there are the haters out there. The ones that break down instead of build up, but more than that, there is love to be found over the Internet, in the lives and hearts of other people.

I have heard a lot, "I don't know if I could start a blog." Or, "It seems so time consuming." The truth is, it IS time consuming, and no, not everyone can start a blog. It's something that you have to be dedicated to, be passionate about, and have fun with. I said those thing too when I thought about starting a blog. But the blessing I feel has overcome any negatives there are out there.

With that being said, I am so happy that this little hobby of mine became a passion. I don't know what I would do with my spare time without it. So thank you for giving me something to be proud of. Something that I want to show off and share with others so they will hopefully find something to be passionate about in their life. After having nothing to write about, this is one of my longest blog posts to date. So thanks non-working brain. I guess you saved the day.

Happy Fourth of July, Hump Day, and plain ol' Wednesday. You guys rock my socks. And trust me, I have some pretty cool socks.

You are so adorable. This made me happy. Because...at times, I feel like I shouldn't even a blog because it's just me most of the time. . . and those who want to share it with you. But that is the way it should be. Thanks for the reminder (:

It's a great thing to be passionate about! I'm just starting out, and I'm already finding that yes, blogging takes a lot of time--but I'm already becoming passionate and excited about it! I'm glad you've found this passion too!

I'd say you summed up my feelings quite well, too. My blog is something I'm very proud to have done for over a year and I hope it brings more opportunities and adventures.

I love this post. I often feel that I have a blog but I don't have enough time to consider myself a blogger. Although I may not be consistent with my posts.. I love blogging and if I'm just doing it for myself, I'm okay with that.

I really appreciate this post. I know I started my blog as a little space to just free my thoughts and I love how, even with it still being so small, I feel like I am connecting with so many people. I'm beginning to realize I have no idea what I'd do without my blog!
