friday favorites: new year attire

dress: Old Navy fur stole: from another jacket bangles: F21 tights: Target shoes: F21
Believe it or not, New Years is one of the hardest things to dress for in my opinion. Why? Because I do not own a single item with sequins on it. I am just not a sequin, sparkle, or blingy type of girl. I prefer whimsical patterns, different textures, and mostly neutrals. So when I thought about what would be an appropriate New Years outfit, I could not get flashy out of my mind. There in lies the problem. I am NOT flashy. Here's what I ended up with.

I don't have to be flashy with sequins and glitter. By adding accents and accessories to the outfit, I could make my self feel flashy, darnit! The only thing that sparkles in my outfit are the gold polka-dotted tights and gold/bronze eye shadow. By wearing a bright colored sheen dress instead of a little black dress (a New Years staple it seems) you can stand out in your own way without all that glitter. Instead of a statement necklace, I opted for a fur stole to keep me warm in the cool night. Give your hair some volume and curl and add some bangles to your wrist, and you're all set!

I hope this helps some of you, like me, that just cannot wear all that glitter, no matter how hard they try! Let me know if you have any other ideas for a New Year attire. Feel free to pin this outfit if you think it will help others dress for this fun holiday!
