mint for fall

earrings, c/o Oh My Good*Ness (currently closed) sunnies: Target sweater: Old Navy shirt: F21 watch: Fossil pants: F21 boots: Target

Even though in Florida it doesn't feel like fall, the fall clothes are flooding in the store, making me want to spend all my money. But before I do (and hopefully it doesn't make that much of a dent), I want to get as much use out of my spring/summer clothes as I can. Here are some tips that can help you stretch those previous season pieces.

Wear those favorite spring colors and patterns and pair them with some fall items. Chunky sweaters and scarfs can help any pieces feel more fall.

Just because it's no longer the hot seasons doesn't mean florals can't be worn. Pair them with darker, more neutral colors such as burgundy and burnt orange.

Layer, layer, layer. A tank can't be worn by itself, but it can be worn under other items to add another layer without weighing you down.

Hopefully I just saved you some change when heading to those stores to buy some warmer clothing. But I know, I know, sometimes you just can't resist.

Also, I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for my grandpa and my family. God does answer prayers because he gets to come home today! So thankful for every person who was a prayer warrior during this time, I don't know think you know how much I appreciate it, and you.

a new look around these parts

Welcome to another week! If you haven't noticed, there's a new blog design in the house! The sweet Aubrey from The Kinch Life did my last design (and I loved it), but with the new weather approaching, I was itching for something new. Of course, this newbie of a blogger couldn't get through a new blog design without some glitches. Oh, you know, like deleting ALL OF MY PAGES. Now, I don't know how to get them back and into my left sidebar buttons that I made SPECIFICALLY for them. I can't believe I am yelling at missing text. #bloggerproblems I guess. So for now, lots of my blog is under construction until I can study up on some blogging for dummies. Any questions or inquiries can be sent to amyjpalmer54 (at) gmail (dot) com.

What do you think of the new design?
and here I go again asking for more help, but if you have any quick fixes for my pages, I would love it.

"Pa" update: After being in the hospital for almost 24 hours, they have been able to fix his twisted colon. Prayers are still welcomed as he is still there under supervision. Thank you for all who are keeping my family and I in your thoughts.

prayer warriors

I hardly ever post on a Sunday, actually I never post on a Sunday. It's my relax and get everything done day and I'm alwaysss running around doing something, and I'm sure you are too. But today, if you could take some time out of your day and pray for "Pa," you would be awesome. He is in the hospital for possible kidney stones. He's had them before, but that doesn't mean anything. I need some prayer warriors for healing, peace, and comfort for my family.

They are two of the most important people to me.
God, wrap your arms around them and give Pa healing. Give Ma comfort and peace knowing that everything works and is planned from you.

I really appreciate your prayers.

friday favorites: tattoo

When explaining to people why I have tattoos, I am sometimes at a loss for words. Sometimes because I feel as though they don't actually care to know why, and even if I did give them a reason, it wouldn't be good enough for them. There is also a feeling of privacy. It's one thing if people I know ask me, but if strangers are curious, I can easily feel like it's none of their business. There are some things in life that can be just too personal to share. As I got my second tattoo, this was something that played over in my mind. What was I going to tell people when they asked me why I got this tattoo? Right after I got it, I posted a picture to instagram with the caption,

"I have been blessed to have been shown the love of a sailor, and held the key to someone's heart."

My grandparents have been a great influence and support in my life. There are not enough words to say how much they mean to me and how blessed I feel to have been given this much time with them. I always knew that one day I would get a tattoo in remembrance of them and I am so happy that they got to see it. Not because they like tattoos, but because of what the tattoo means. A ships wheel and an anchor for my "Pa." For the strong navy man that took care of his family with pride. A key to symbolize my "Ma," who always tells me I have the key to her heart, but really I think she has the key to mine.

I got this tattoo in remembrance of them, but in the end, it is for me. To remember the lives they led and that I would be become nothing short of amazing, if only I follow their lead.

love, your sailor

My grandparents are my inspiration. There aren't enough words to say how much they mean to me and how they have impacted my life. When Jared and I went up there last weekend, I was delighted to see an old scrapbook of when my "Pa" was in the Navy. I could never imagine what it would be like to be away from someone you love for that long, but my granparents pulled through. Seeing the letters and postcards he had written her while he was away made my day. Old letter and pictures are my favorites to look at; there is just something about taking a trip back in time where life was simpler. A love that lasts like theirs is so hard to come by these days, and I am so blessed to have an example of what real love looks like. And let's be honest, my grandfather was a handsome man; who doesn't like a man in uniform? No wonder my grandmother stuck by him all this time.
