the baby turns one

*thanks iphone for pulling through again. You never let me down.
This little princess has been the star of this blog a few times before. Remember her baby shower a little over a year ago? And THIS Friday Favorite of some of my favorite pictures of her? Well, this little baby is suddenly not such a baby anymore.

Her first birthday was such a beautiful time. From the touches of pink and orange to the hanging lanterns outside, there were so many details made special just for her. Family was gathered, icing covered pretzels were eaten (so good!), presents were stacked high, and babies played all over the yard, bubbles included. She is already such a girl inside. Picking apart her cake with such daintiness made everyone laugh; there was no way she was going to get all messy just to eat some cake. I can't remember when I turned one, but Ashlynn has it so good, and that happy baby deserved every second of it because she has brought so much joy to so many people.

In the blink of an eye, a year has passed. I was away at college when she was born and there was so much anticipation to meet her! Now, over a year later, she is perfect in every way and so so blessed. And might I just add, she said "Amy" for the first time the other day; I was pretty proud to say the least. I know this little girl has an amazing future ahead of her and I can't wait to see where God leads her.

a valentine's celebration

How fun is Valentine's Day? I mean I am no girly girl who wears pink all the time (I think I only own one pink item of clothing) but for one holiday it is exciting to step out of my pink aversion and embrace it with friends, food, and of course Valentine crafts for a special someone, even if that is your dog.

My girl Candice from Teatime Thoughts sure knows how to throw the best parties (remember the New Years one HERE) and she has partnered up with The You Are Project to show you how to throw a fabulous Valentine's get-together. So go check it out and start planning one for you and your friends today! It will be the day of love before you know it.

celebrate the new year

I have something extra fun to share with you today and to get you out of the Christmas mood and into the New Year! I recently attended a fabulous little soiree that my friend Candice put together. There were drinks, food, and of course, plenty of sparkle!

This girl can show you how to host and entertain your guests easily and simply and I am so happy she invited me to be a part of it. Enough of me talking. Check out her series of posts for the New Year HEREHERE, and HERE. Last but not least (actually the most exciting), see it live on The You Are Project's website HERE!

Happy weekend, everyone! Enjoy every second because soon enough it will be another Monday!

a video i wish i could show you

hat: Walmart shirt: F21 bracelets: Style Lately & vintage scarf: Walmart skirt: Gap shoes: Target
First of all, this outfit is a miracle. Why? Because there is only one item from Target in it. However, there are two from Walmart. Is that a good trade? I'll let you decide on that one.

Last night was Jared's work Christmas party and I pride myself on being the best mingler (is that a word?) I've ever been. Usually when I do not know to many people and especially when Jared is by my side, I am a bit reserved and let him do the talking, which he does sooo easily and it's not fair. He is one of those people who could talk to anyone. Whether he knows them or not he can just strike up a conversation. Just another thing he is good at. I'll add that to the already growing list, along with the way he was breaking it down to the electric slide on the dance floor. I have a video that I would love to show you all, but I'm pretty sure he would kill me.

Christmas is a week from today! I just love this season and I can't believe the most special day is only a week away. Happy Tuesday!

friday favorites; a little pink celebration

My absolute favorite thing about this past week was last Sunday. I attended this adorable baby shower for Jared's sister-in-law and her baby bump. Yes, this beat out writing papers, studying for midterms, taking midterms, and yes, even watching The Bachelor. Of course, it was filled with pink, diapers, tea, and who doesn't like eating fruit dip out of baby food jars? I am beyond excited for this baby girl to get here. The best part about her arrival? Finally getting to know her name! It's been kept a secret for almost seven months now and the soon to be parents are keeping a tight lip. I have my guess as to what her name is, but I'll keep that to myself.

To Mandy,
You are going to make the most wonderful and caring mama. I cannot wait to be a part of this little girl's life. I may completely spoil her, as if you couldn't tell by her baby shower gift, (this involved a huge pink tutu) but it is all out of love. Can you make April come a little faster please?

To Curtis,
Your little girl is going to be a daddy's girl; she is also going to be wrapped around your finger, melting your heart from a very young age. You're going to love it. Also, you may want to consider keeping should keep that shotgun handy for when she gets older.

Don't you agree? With parents that look like this, you know she is going to be just beautiful.
