Meet Robyn, the proud owner of She Makes Hats.

When she first contacted me, I became extremely excited because as soon as I found out a little more about her, I was amazed as what she is trying to do in her life, as well as for other people.

Get to know Robyn:

What made you start She Makes Hats?

I started She Makes Hats as a way to document the hats I'm making for charity. Back in September 2009 I challenged myself to knit One Hundred Hats for charity in a year, and finished that goal in August 2010. Afterwards I kept knitting for charity but didn't have any goals pushing me forwards, so I decided to really challenge myself - my goal is to knit 10,000 hats for others (friends, family, and charity combined) in my lifetime! She Makes Hats is a way for me to document this process, while also documenting the little parts of my life I want to share!

What do you hope to accomplish with your shop?

In my shop I sell made-to-order hats (and a few other things as well!). With each item I sell, I donate a portion of the proceeds to charity. The shop is a side project to my blog, honestly - I love how it helps me connect with folks and bring hand knits to people around the country!

What is your favorite item to make?

Right now I'm having a love affair with the Jane Hat. I love how it's simple construction keeps you warm while still looking feminine! I've been knitting a lot of Waffle Hats to donate as well.

What are five things we should know about you?

1. I've got an adorable son named Owen who I stay home with during the day. 

2. I wear jeans and tee shirts almost every day of the year, and consider this my Signature Style!

3. I live in Omaha, but grew up right outside of Chicago, and still miss the city noises and traffic.

4. Before I met my husband I wasn't a fan of football; these days I wake up to Sports Center so I can keep up with all the happenings on (and off) the field!

5. I only knit with sizes 5-11 knitting needles. Any bigger or any smaller (especially smaller) and I get twitchy.
