a lesson in accessories

dress: c/o Deloom scarf: thrifted shoes: Lauren Conrad via Kohls
As you may have noticed, there is not much to this outfit; there are only three items listed in the outfit info. But if you take a second look, this outfit looks complete. In this case, less is more. When feeling Pan-Am-ish in this dress, I knew a neck scarf would compliment it perfectly. With the loose ruffle around the waist, a belt is not needed. Add a pop of color with the shoes, and your look is finished! When adding too many accessories, the look can become messy and confusing to the eyes. There needs to be focal points for your eyes to land on. A statement necklace, a leopard belt, and colored shoes are some of my favorite ways to please the eye. In my opinion, anything added to this outfit would have taken away from the scarf and the shoes. In my world, taking away from the shoes would be considered a crime.

Here are a few other items from Deloom that need little accessorizing
Clearwater Colorblock Dress
Everly Zig Zag Shift Dress
Periwinkle Summer Dress

Hope the eye candy brightens you Monday!

I don't see many ladies tying scarves around their necks, but you did such a lovely job. I love the vibrant colors on it.

Such a simple addition to an already chic ensemble! Love how light a scarf feels...especially for summer when you want the most minimal layering possible...beautifully styled!

I found you from Shane's Operation Beautiful post! You truly are gorgeous and have an amazing taste in style. I think I'm in love with that dress and it is a perfect transition into early fall weather that's still warm! I'm excited to see other outfits you come up with! P.S...I'm an "Aimee" too :)

I have a freakishly similar dress, and I never would have thought to style it with a scarf. I love it!!
