st. augustine; part one

Remember how I had been day dreaming of this trip HERE and floating on cloud nine from it HERE? well, here it goes. I don't mean to brag about this little trip of ours, but well, I consider it brag worthy. From the time we got there to the time we left, everything was just perfect. Literally perfect. Down to the times on our parking meter strips perfect. And really, it doesn't get any better than that.

We went into the day not really knowing what we were doing. We had the major things mapped out, like we'll start here, then go there, then come back here, that sort of thing. But in reality, we were newbs to this kind of traveling. An adventure we made of this trip I tell ya. We we had a plan to leave at 5 o'clock in the morning, which ended up being more like 5:20. Off on our road trip that took three and a half hours, we made it there around 8:45. With our stomach's growling, I had seen a little place on the internet that looked like a great place for some good coffee. Oh man, did I about die when I saw this little place. Built in the 1700's as a blacksmith shop, this little coffee shop was a place of beauty. They had everything on the menu plus more. I decided on a pumpkin spice iced late, a tough decision from the snickers cappuccino. Heaven. Jared proceeded to get a delicious bagel sandwich from the Gourmet Hut, right next door. We strolled to the water right next to Castillo de San Marcos and enjoyed our breakfast.

Since the Fort was right there, we decided that would be our next stop. And to our surprise it was free to get in ONLY that day. Thanks National Park appreciation day, you saved us 14 dollars. Jared being the man that loves history thoroughly enjoyed this and we got to enjoy it even more since we didn't have to pay for it. You could see quite a ways from the top and the view was just breath-taking. From the downtown streets to the water and the bridge, there was nothing not to love about this little town.

Now it was my turn. And what else is better than shopping? We walked hand in hand down St. George St., just like I had envisioned. Walking in and out of little shops that held the most unique items, I was just so happy to be there. We saw the Oldest School House, played with mustaches, and found a Go Fish location. After a few hours of walking, we decided to eat lunch at Scarlett O'hara's. A smoked chicken salad sandwich for me and a philly cheese steak for my man. As it so happens, our maximum four hour parking was just about to be up (see, perfect I tell you) so we mad our way back to the car and onto our next location...

I leave you with some insta's of our trip so far

Love love LOVE St Augustine! I might be a bit biased, since I went to college there, but it's really one of the best places on this planet. Glad you found Scarlet's; my friends and I used to always split appetizers while killing time between classes.
Can't wait for part two!
