the baby turns one

*thanks iphone for pulling through again. You never let me down.
This little princess has been the star of this blog a few times before. Remember her baby shower a little over a year ago? And THIS Friday Favorite of some of my favorite pictures of her? Well, this little baby is suddenly not such a baby anymore.

Her first birthday was such a beautiful time. From the touches of pink and orange to the hanging lanterns outside, there were so many details made special just for her. Family was gathered, icing covered pretzels were eaten (so good!), presents were stacked high, and babies played all over the yard, bubbles included. She is already such a girl inside. Picking apart her cake with such daintiness made everyone laugh; there was no way she was going to get all messy just to eat some cake. I can't remember when I turned one, but Ashlynn has it so good, and that happy baby deserved every second of it because she has brought so much joy to so many people.

In the blink of an eye, a year has passed. I was away at college when she was born and there was so much anticipation to meet her! Now, over a year later, she is perfect in every way and so so blessed. And might I just add, she said "Amy" for the first time the other day; I was pretty proud to say the least. I know this little girl has an amazing future ahead of her and I can't wait to see where God leads her.

soul claiming heat

sweater: J.Crew Factory shorts: thrifted necklaces: Fossil & F21 watch: Fossil shoes: F21
Okay, so I wanted to point something out here. It seems to me that on my blog, I tend to wear A LOT more shorts than other people. You always see these gorgeous layered outfits with leggings and sweaters and scarves that I love to wear in the fall and winter. But lets get serious for a minute, I live in FLORIDA. The daily high temperature is close to the 90's and as soon as you walk outside, you start sweating; no I am not kidding. So while I would love to wear those layered outfits all year long, I simply cannot, unless you want to see my faint from heat exhaustion. I want my clothes choices to be up to par, but for what's functional and practical for where I live. So, if you look through my outfits and envy that I wear shorts a lot, don't kid yourself, I would love to be wearing your layered sweaters and boyfriend jeans in 70 degree  breezy weather.

On another note, I cannot tell you how happy I have been moving back home. Family is something that is SO important to me and I missed everything about being around them. I can't get enough of family gatherings, large and small. Oh and in case you missed the newest addition to the family, Ashlynn Kate, (not claiming her, although I wish I could) here is some daily Sunday cuteness.

the beginning to an end

sunglasses: Ross button-up: F21 top: Target belt: F21 bracelets: F21 skirt: Kohl's shoes: American Eagle

Today marks the first day of exams. The week that is bittersweet for most college students. On one hand, exams suck. Plain and simple. But right around the corner, summer is there. Pushing through this last week is going to be challenging. I have four exams to be done, a full room to pack up and squish and squeeze and cram into three cars, and say goodbye to great friends I have made throughout the year. My first year of college will be over in two days. TWO! And as much as people think I will be sad to see it go, I'm not. I am fully ready for what God is going to throw my way, because I know I will be able to handle it.
I feel as if I have grown up so much this past year; I no longer feel as if I am the same person I knew before. I can handle situations better, am more responsible to myself, and see the world through different eyes.
With all that said, thanks college for changing my view on things; I have learned a lot. But please cut me some slack this week, I still get to use the excuse I am a busy college student for two more days.

Oh p.s.- Remember the baby shower I went to for Jared's sister-in-law? Well my soon to be niece was welcomed into the world yesterday.
Say hello to Ashlynn Kate Ross
(aka the cutest babe I have ever seen)

I cannot wait to wrap my arms around that precious girl.
Be prepared to be spoiled Ashlynn Kate.
God is good isn't he?

friday favorites; a little pink celebration

My absolute favorite thing about this past week was last Sunday. I attended this adorable baby shower for Jared's sister-in-law and her baby bump. Yes, this beat out writing papers, studying for midterms, taking midterms, and yes, even watching The Bachelor. Of course, it was filled with pink, diapers, tea, and who doesn't like eating fruit dip out of baby food jars? I am beyond excited for this baby girl to get here. The best part about her arrival? Finally getting to know her name! It's been kept a secret for almost seven months now and the soon to be parents are keeping a tight lip. I have my guess as to what her name is, but I'll keep that to myself.

To Mandy,
You are going to make the most wonderful and caring mama. I cannot wait to be a part of this little girl's life. I may completely spoil her, as if you couldn't tell by her baby shower gift, (this involved a huge pink tutu) but it is all out of love. Can you make April come a little faster please?

To Curtis,
Your little girl is going to be a daddy's girl; she is also going to be wrapped around your finger, melting your heart from a very young age. You're going to love it. Also, you may want to consider keeping should keep that shotgun handy for when she gets older.

Don't you agree? With parents that look like this, you know she is going to be just beautiful.
