traded in my sweaters

sunnies: F21 // vest: Target // arrow necklace: F21 // wishbone necklace & chain bracelet: c/o Style Lately // watch: Fossil // dress: thrifted // shoes: Target
So, I might have a little bit of a vest problem. I acquired two on one day, you can see other outfits HERE and HERE. Since summertime is so stinkin' hot in Florida, I wasn't sure how my love of layering was going to continue. Dun-da-da-daa, enter vests, and I am so happy they have become a summer trend, because I am embracing them head on. They are a perfect way to add interest while not adding a gallon of sweat in this hot Florida weather. Because if my bikini body was ready and it was appropriate to wear a bathing suit everywhere I went, you bet you would see me and all kinds of people bearing their skin to the simmering heat.

Are you a vest lover? Yay or Nay?

shedding layers

scarf: Target shirt: F21 watch: Fossil pants: Kohl's shoes: F21 bag: THEIT
Let me tell you, ladies and ladies (not sure too many of you are gentlemen, but if so, welcome), that I have not seen a colder day than the one in these pictures. Oh my, was it cold. Like, chill you to your bones cold, at least for this Florida girl anyways. But after this day, it was only up, up, up for the temperature. Right now, in the middle on January, we are sitting at just about 80 degrees. A degree at which if you are outside longer than five minutes, you will break a sweat. Not many people can say that around this time of year, especially since most bloggers I see have the most beautiful snow on the ground!

Now, I am not asking for snow over here, but a few drops in the degrees would be nice. All I'm asking is to not sweat when I walk outside, okay? And to be able to wear my fave winter scarves. Lately, I've been getting these stranggeee looks from people. I am assuming they are about what I am wearing because while they are all walking around in their alma mater t-shirts (oh how some of those can make me cringe because clearly they should have been thrown away, like, ten years ago), baggy shorts, and flip flops, I am wearing a sweater/button down combo with jean shorts, tights, and booties. I guess people just start sweating just looking at me (but not in the good way). I can't help it if my wardrobe is unwilling to accommodate this insanely hot weather. Watch out, the next outfit post you see may need to be in a bathing suit if this weather does to stop. Vampire skin and all, people.

Happy Monday guys! I have the day off today. My day plans should include working out, but there's a dresser redo that is calling my name. Decisions, decisions.

soul claiming heat

sweater: J.Crew Factory shorts: thrifted necklaces: Fossil & F21 watch: Fossil shoes: F21
Okay, so I wanted to point something out here. It seems to me that on my blog, I tend to wear A LOT more shorts than other people. You always see these gorgeous layered outfits with leggings and sweaters and scarves that I love to wear in the fall and winter. But lets get serious for a minute, I live in FLORIDA. The daily high temperature is close to the 90's and as soon as you walk outside, you start sweating; no I am not kidding. So while I would love to wear those layered outfits all year long, I simply cannot, unless you want to see my faint from heat exhaustion. I want my clothes choices to be up to par, but for what's functional and practical for where I live. So, if you look through my outfits and envy that I wear shorts a lot, don't kid yourself, I would love to be wearing your layered sweaters and boyfriend jeans in 70 degree  breezy weather.

On another note, I cannot tell you how happy I have been moving back home. Family is something that is SO important to me and I missed everything about being around them. I can't get enough of family gatherings, large and small. Oh and in case you missed the newest addition to the family, Ashlynn Kate, (not claiming her, although I wish I could) here is some daily Sunday cuteness.
