a start of something new

There's something new in the air, or rather my brain and stomach. Tomorrow I start the new adventure in my life of coming an LPN (licensed practical nurse). Ah! For a whole year, from February to February, Monday through Thursday, I will be diving head first into some completely new territory. Since December 16th of last year, I have become pretty accustomed to working and only working (oh and this love of mine of course), but now everything is about to change. This is where my stomach and brain come into play. Mentally, I feel ready for this to happen. Always being strong academically, I feel as though most of the work will be something I can accomplish with no problem. Emotionally, it's a different story. I am not going to lie when I say that doubts are circling around in my mind. What if I don't like it? What if I don't have what it takes to see all of the things that most people run away from? Is this really the career that I want to do? I could probably come up with ten other questions to ask myself over and over.

I'm sure some of you can agree with me when I say that starting something that starts the rest of your life can be scary. When thinking how other people's lives are eventually going to be in my hands, I only become more anxious. But I feel as though this is the path that God has laid out for me. Therefore, I am going to give it everything I have. Whether I faint, cry, or continually have doubts, I will be back here in a year with a passing certificate. Because I have hope that this is what He wants me to do.

By taking this leap of faith, I am hopefully starting into something amazing. It may not be what I feel as though will fulfill me fully because there are so many different things I love, but I do feel as though this is where I am supposed to be. And hopefully, after starting my classes and becoming accustomed, I can say about myself:

The future is something that is so foreign to me, but that is something that is to great about life. I will never know what life plans have been set for me; I can only trust that I am in somebodies hands who is all knowing and who will allow me to be the normal confused human that I am.

Prayers are appreciated as I start this new career path! Also, my outfit of the day may change, but that doesn't mean my love of clothes will not. So I would love if you stick around to watch the hot mess that I will soon become. Who knows, it might be fun!

Happy Monday!

shedding layers

Let me tell you, ladies and ladies (not sure too many of you are gentlemen, but if so, welcome), that I have not seen a colder day than the one in these pictures. Oh my, was it cold. Like, chill you to your bones cold, at least for this Florida girl anyways. But after this day, it was only up, up, up for the temperature. Right now, in the middle on January, we are sitting at just about 80 degrees. A degree at which if you are outside longer than five minutes, you will break a sweat. Not many people can say that around this time of year, especially since most bloggers I see have the most beautiful snow on the ground!

Now, I am not asking for snow over here, but a few drops in the degrees would be nice. All I'm asking is to not sweat when I walk outside, okay? And to be able to wear my fave winter scarves. Lately, I've been getting these stranggeee looks from people. I am assuming they are about what I am wearing because while they are all walking around in their alma mater t-shirts (oh how some of those can make me cringe because clearly they should have been thrown away, like, ten years ago), baggy shorts, and flip flops, I am wearing a sweater/button down combo with jean shorts, tights, and booties. I guess people just start sweating just looking at me (but not in the good way). I can't help it if my wardrobe is unwilling to accommodate this insanely hot weather. Watch out, the next outfit post you see may need to be in a bathing suit if this weather does to stop. Vampire skin and all, people.

Happy Monday guys! I have the day off today. My day plans should include working out, but there's a dresser redo that is calling my name. Decisions, decisions.

thursday ramblings

A few things on this Thursday (and a cold Florida one at that). One, I am aware that my roots have grown to unacceptable lengths; it's what a lack of sun, sand, time, and laziness will do to you. That will be changing this weekend! Two, excuse my boots being cut off in the last picture, thanks mom. Three, I am unbelievably excited to go to Tallahassee tomorrow. You may remember THIS post where we traveled there last time, and there's more fun to be had there this time celebrating my friends birthday! Four, you NEED to head over to Erin's great blog, Living in Yellow and read her secrets anonymous post. It consists of people leaving their deepest darkest secrets for us to read, anonymously. Genius. Some things I can relate to, some things I can't imagine. But it really does give me the realization that everyone, no matter who they are, are going through something in their lives. Five, I am so blessed to have this blog, and the people that follow it. This is a place where I can come and write my heart out, but the fact that you want to read what my heart has to say is so encouraging. So thanks, andddd your welcome my mind can't think of anything else to write right now.

a letter to you, little planner

Oh you little Erin Condren planner, how you make me happy. I write all of my little notes, my to-dos, and my plans in you. I keep you safe and dry on a daily basis. I have neat handwriting (most of the time) for you and you alone. I love your chevron pattern to death and I think we are best friends. But lately, you've made me want to pull my hair out. Overwhelmed is what you make me feel. You are supposed to keep me organized, little planner. But instead, I have visual proof of how busy my schedule has become. Proof of how I have too many things to do in too few hours of the day. Alas my little planner, I know it's not your fault. But there is nothing better than blaming inanimate objects instead of yourself no matter what it is. Am I right? So please, from now on, instead of looking at the words I write as what makes my schedule too busy, help me look at it as life. Because in reality, it would be boring any other way. Until the end of the year, little chartreuse planner, we can still be best friends.

Now that I'm done talking to my planner, I wanted to take a second and thank each and every one of you who frequent this place. And if you haven't noticed, it's almost 300! This little whirlwind of a hobby has quickly become a place that feels like home. It wouldn't have happened without all you readers that have stuck with me from the beginning. This blog owner has big plans and there's no stopping her now. Thank you for giving me the drive to keep going.

Happy Thursday everyone! To Tallahassee I go.
(is there ever going to be a weekend I'm not traveling?)

there's a storm approaching and here are my plans

sunglasses: boyfriend's aviators via kohl's shirt: Target skirt: thrifted bracelets: vintage & F21 shoes: F21

There's a tropical storm coming. His name is Isaac. Landing over the southern part of Florida, it's slowly making its way here. College classes and activities are canceled tomorrow and people are being evacuated out of the dorms in Fort Myers. I mean, I am no weather reporter, but because of the empty shelves where the gallons of water usually sit, I would say Isaac is pretty legit.

I guess it's a good thing all I plan on doing this week is going to work and homework. Both of which are inside. Homework has been attempted outside before, but then all I end up with is a sweat stained book and smeared writing. It's hot here people, and I sweat. Newsflash I know. So, this means no outside activities for me. Thanks Isaac for working into my schedule, it's very appreciated.

What else am I up to? Well since you asked, I just got back home. And, I leave again on Thursday to go to Tallahassee to see my best friend, her new house, and the city I've only ever spent 4 hours in. She's the one who inspired THIS post, and has the key hole in this best friend tattoo relationship. Come fast Thursday!

Check back this week for my birthday wish list! Because you know there's nothing more exciting than a birthday. However, I will accept packages with a pretty bows on them anytime. wink wink

Happy Monday my loves
