friday favorites: a sunset romance

Last Friday was one of those nights. The ones where you would like to bottle them up forever and just store for whenever you need a happy memory, a bright light on a bad day, or just a little pick me up. Jared and I are busy. Like, really busy only see each other after dark kind of busy. The times we spend together during the daylight, we try to make them count and sometimes that can be a little difficult, cause what doesn't cost an arm and leg nowadays?

This night, we decided to get some good ol' Chipotle and head out to the beach to watch the sunset, romantic, I know. It was pretty breezy and a little cool, so we tucked ourselves away, out of the wind and blowing sand, and ate our dinners. To my surprise, the sun didn't set for quite a while. We ate, talked, listened to music, and just got to spend time with one another. As the sun continued to set, we got up and started playing with the camera, shooting a couple pictures and what not. It just felt like only the two of us on the beach. There must have been fifty people not too far of a distance from us, but I don't even remember them being there.

While music was playing from the phone in his pocket, we danced. Slow danced, twirling, laughing, silly dancing, you name it. Honestly I can't remember the last time we had such a romantic/young love time together (sounds silly, I know). As the sun set, we watched until it fell below the water, out of our eye sight, and as if we weren't ready to leave, we laid back down on the sheet we set up in our hideaway and talked some more until it was too chilly to stand. As we drove back to my house, I realized how happy of a lady I am and how having this man in my life is so important to me. We can dance on the beach to music with people around us and not care one bit, because we have each other.

I live for nights like that.

my fridays are on thursday, and what a good day thursday is

sunnies: Target // shirt: Old Navy // vest: Target // necklace: Fossil // bracelets: F21 & InPink // knuckle rings: c/o  Style Lately // leggings: c/o Style Lately // shoes: Target
Overwhelmed is not even an understatement when it comes to this week. I mean 5 tests in 4 days on stuff we've learned in 48 hours? 6 body systems in less than a week and a half? Not the best mood lifter. Surprisingly though, today is my Friday (welcome weekend!) and I don't even know where the week disappeared to. Most likely my nose in a book half asleep. Have you ever felt like that? Like days just pass and you feel like it is an out of body experience? Somehow you land in your bed every night and wishing you could just stay there forever?

The one thing I look forward to almost every night is seeing my amazing man. I feel very, very lucky to look forward to seeing the same face after over 5 and a half years. Not many people can say that. And even on those nights when I feel like my brain might explode, he makes me laugh it out, and I feel better. Like tomorrow won't be so bad after all and I will get through it. It's the best I tell you.

Also, let me just take a second to talk about these leggings. Not much to say besides they're awesome and I want to wear them every day. Maybe even under my scrubs. Okay that's a little excessive. But for real, you should get them. Aaaand their knuckle rings are. the. bomb.

That is all.

to market to market & a few other places too

It was a glorious day last Saturday when Jared and I got to spend the WHOLE day together. You know what is even better? He said I could do whatever I wanted to do. When your man says that to you, you better take advantage of it. So of course I did what any women would do, shop. The day started with a trip to the farmers market, a favorite of ours ( you can see HERE and HERE)...

We made our way to the top of the double-decker coffee amazing amusement bus sort of thing. A doughnut and coffee for me and a breakfast burrito and coke for him, the usual. From here you could see the entire market buzzing with people and their green reusable shopping totes and I left thinking about buying some of their tanzania pearberry coffee. Most exotic sounding coffee award right there.

Let me just tell you right now that you should be jealous of our farmer's market flowers and succulents. I could spend an hour looking at them alone and they also have some of the most unique plants I have never heard of. From spiky to fluffy and gorgeous in between, you'll find it here. Also, these full-sized succulents are $2! My oh my I could buy all of them (and I kind of did).

A couple weeks ago I had about 2.5 seconds to visit the best thrift shop and antique store in the town over from us, Bradenton. So naturally I had to go back to see what I had left behind. Jared and I just fell in love with this old health-o-meter scale and it just had to come home with me. A retro teal golf club was Jared's buy of choice and off we went to the next place.

As we were driving around Bradenton in the late morning, we happened to stumble upon their farmer's market. Consensus: Sarasota wins hands down. However, we did like their main street and found a cute little restaurant bar that had the best flat breads. We indulge on our days out let me tell you. Also, isn't he just the most handsome thing around? Keeper status.

The rest of the day pushed on with a few more stops as I am still on the hunt for the perfect bar cart which included a stop to salvation army and habitat for humanity store and by the time we got home we were wiped. The day ended with a nap and relaxation. Pictured above are a few finds I acquired in the last week. All under $35 and too perfect to stand. I'd say it was a pretty good day and I cannot wait to spend more like this. It might have to include some more manlier outings in the future though. One man can only take so much thrift shopping, you know?

What have you done fun lately in your spare time?

when in doubt, wear his shirt

shirt: (Jared's) Target // jeans: Target // watch & necklace: Fossil // boots: Steve Madden
Don't you just love when you look in your closet and don't have anything to wear, only to look at the wadded pile of clothes on the floor and spot it. The boyfriends/husbands shirt that has that super soft feeling your shirts never do and is a couple sizes too big for those days when you aren't feeling your skinny self. The one that kind of swallows you in that nice sort of way. Yeah, that shirt is the bomb. Oh, and the elbow pads don't hurt either; added style points are a plus when it comes to wearing your man's wardrobe. Just please do me a favor and smell it before you put it on your body. Those men sure do know how to wear a shirt (and sometimes more) out with their odor. Other than the occasional odor, steal anything and everything. Besides, aren't you the one who dressed him anyway? ;)

Anyone else with me? What's your favorite item you love to steal from your significant other's closet?

P.S. I am not a big sports fan by any means, but if you follow basketball at all or your brackets are messed up, you will have heard FGCU's name. So proud of the little time I had at that school and GO EAGLES!!!!

friday favorites: scrub life

Aren't we just the cutest? No but for real. I think we make a pretty cute scrub couple. Don't be scared of my no make up face and wrong color for my skin tone scrubs. Giving bed baths doesn't mean I have to wear make up, right? But more than that, I am just so happy where we both are in life. Striving to reach our goals and doing it together.

I love that we both share the pain of scrub wearing. Okay, maybe me more than him, but some days you just want to wear jeans. Uniforms are no strange subject for us, wearing them in private school most of our lives. It's pretty ironic we both found ourselves wearing them daily again.

I love that we can have an intellectual conversation about the human body. Most of it may consist of telling each other that we are wrong because we go to two different schools and were taught differently, and when something is drilled in your brain, there could not possibly be another way of doing it. But we can also learn from each other.

I love that we are both so dedicated. This is a new subject in the school area for Jared since it comes naturally to me (and he hates it) but I am so proud of him.

I love that when I come home to him in the future with nursing struggles or how working with people can be difficult (did you know we all die? And it can be pretty sad), he can somewhat relate.

I love that our schedules are more matched now. School during the days, work during the night. We may be up to our heads busy, but at least we both are.

I love that every day I look forward to telling him something new that I learned, and the same for him. It usually consists of "show and demonstrate," which usually ends up with one of us on the floor or in a weird bed position. Hey, at least we have a dummy to practice on.

I love that we text each other our test and quiz grades daily. Supporting our accomplishments and being sad in our downfalls. Reassuring each other that one test does not determine our lives is always a comforting feeling.

I love that we love to help people. Simple as that.

happy birthday to my man

My love,
Out of all the embarrassing pictures I could have put on here, I chose this one. Why? One, because it's your birthday (a matching double digits of 22) and two, because I prefer people to see you as handsome man rather than someone who frequently makes fun of my outfit poses. You can thank me later.

But in all seriousness, a happy day of birth to the one I am so proud to call mine. I'm sure there will be many more birthdays to come and I can't wait to celebrate them with you.

Happy Birthday Stinky
(you can come up with reasons in your mind why I call him that, annndd you're probably right)
I love you,

for jared

If Jared had a blog this is probably what all the posts would look like. I don't know whether it would be because he spends probably more than 50 percent of his time at multiple golf courses, or just because he enjoys it so much. Most of the time I don't mind, just because I get to see him in those handsome golf outfits. Who doesn't like a man in uniform, no matter what kind of uniform it might be. I don't know a lot about golf, but if anyone reading this has a golf-loving person in their life, show them this post. This is one of the best golf courses in Florida. Which I guess is pretty cool.
Oh, and that last picture is pretty much just for me.
Love you mister.

Check back tomorrow, I have something exciting planned for you!
