After attending my first classes, this is what I noticed:
The students: it's amazing to me that when you are in college, it is the same no matter what class, time, or teacher, there will always be the same type of people. Case study #1: the early birds. Now, I like to get to class early, atleast on the first day. After arriving 20 minutes early, there must have been atleast 10 people in the classroom already. Seriously people? It's an 8 o'clock class! You must be really excited for public speaking. Wait, what? Case study #2: the addicted texters, sleepers, ipod listeners, and talkers. You just paid a few hundred dollars for this class and I doubt you remember half of what the professor said. Yeah, I think money grows on trees too. Case study #3: the "I guess I forgot what time it is" people. There is always one person that stroll into class with only about 15 minutes left. What was the point of showing up anyway? Last but not least, case study #4: the overacheivers: from the moment the professor starts talking, their hand is moving so fast across their paper you think it could start a small fire, and their hands fly up about every 5 minutes to ask yet another question. Maybe they don't know, but there are such things as recorders and office hours.
If everyday is going to be as interesting as today, I don't think I'll have a problem paying attention, maybe just not to the professor.
